Beschrijving

Spillegang horloge gesigneerd Lépine, Paris in gedreven 18-karaats gouden kast met voorstelling in drie kleuren goud. De wijzerplaat in wit email, Romeinse cijfering en minutenverdeling aan de rand in Arabische cijfers. De wijzers in goud.

Jean-Antoine Lépine wordt wel de vader van het moderne horloge genoemd. Hij werd waarschijnlijk rond 1766 benoemd tot klokkenmaker (horloger du Roy) van Lodewijk XV (1710–1774), dat bleef hij tot ongeveer 1790 of 1792, toen de revolutie in Frankrijk een grote vlucht nam en alleen al het noemen van de monarch gevaarlijk werd. De horloges van Lépine waren beroemd om hun slanke elegantie en steeds inventievere technologie.
